Office 365 Translation

New translation feature for the message centre in Office 365 When this change is rolled out, the language of Message Centre will be automatically set based on the language selected for the Office 365 Admin centre. The Translation button in Message Centre will still exist for translation to a different language.

TechNet is moving to https://docs.microsoft.com Topics, articles, and code samples are moving from TechNet to https://docs.microsoft.com (DCM). Docs.microsoft.com is the home for Microsoft technical documentation, API references, code examples, quick-starts, tutorials for developers and IT professionals. Moving this content to DCM will offer the opportunity for people inside and outside Microsoft to edit with GitHub. Comment threading offers the opportunity for product and content teams to interact directly with you. This move will be complated by the end of June 2018.

Office 365 App LauncherOffice 365 App Launcher Update As mentioned in a previous update, Office 365 App Launcher has been updated into a more personalised and simple way to help users open and switch between their most used apps. The rollout for Standard Release Customers is currently in progress, and should be completed early 2018.

New sign-in experience for Office 365 and other Microsoft services All users see the new sign-in experience by default now. However, they can go back to the old experience by using the link in the banner on the sign-in page. With this change, the following happens: 1. Users will no longer see the link on the sign-in page allowing them to go back to the old sign-in experience. 2. Users who see the old sign-in experience because they have previously opted-out using the link will see the new experience. This roll out will commence for all customers mid-January 2018, and the roll out will be completed by the end of January 2018.

Office 365 modern support platform for partners.  Office 365 Modern Support is an integrated support experience focused on enabling:
  • Customers to resolve their own technical issues by providing recommended actions, relevant “how to” articles and self-initiated diagnostics
  • Faster issue resolution for 1 and 2 Tier Microsoft Cloud Solutions Provider (CSP) Partners who provide support and Admin on-behalf-of their customers
  • Faster and more predictable response and resolution when escalating to Microsoft
  • An infrastructure and support platform for rapid enhancement to:
  • Enable Partners to get escalations into Expert teams directly
  • Align multi-service support experience over time
Rolling out support to direct customers for the last few months and results show many things. 20% reduction in support calls due to customers self-serve resolution of technical issues. It also improved satisfaction by 10 points with customers using Office 365 modern support. In summary, Office 365 Modern Support provides a better overall support experience, enabling our Partners to manage tickets more easily and provide faster solution to the end customer.

Organisation restore feature in Dynamics 365 (online) version 9.0 disabled 
The restDynamics-365-restoreore option in Dynamics has temporarily been disabled in the Admin centre (Backup and restore tab). If your organisation need to perform the restore process (versions 9.0 and above) please contact support.

Microsoft Trust Centre Update As you might be aware, Microsoft discloses names of subcontractors who have access to customer data and provides advance notice of new subcontractors. As a commitment to transparency, anytime we add new vendors/subcontractors, we disclose this information in the Microsoft Trust Centre and send you a notification about this change. The Microsoft Online Services Subcontractor List was recently revised to include new subcontractors to help manage customer data. The updated list has been published on the Microsoft Trust Centre. The new subcontractors can be used 6 months after the publish date.

New Sharing Settings in Microsoft Forms 

This update will allow more control over sharing settings in Microsoft Forms. Previous to the update, there were 2 sharing options which Microsoft-Forms-updatewere permanently available to users; sharing to collect responses and sharing as a template. After the update, Administrators will be able to disable all sharing options, which also include sharing for collaboration and sharing results summaries. This means that when sharing features are disabled, only the organisation will be able to access the forms.

Roll out has begun for Targeted release customers, but will be complete by the end of December.

Office 365 is moving to TLS 1.2 for encryption

To provide the best in-class encryption and to ensure the service is more secure by default, all online services are moving to TLS 1.2+ (Transport Layer Security). This means Microsoft will be removing support for TLS versions less than 1.2 from online services on the 1st of March 2018. 

The current analysis of connections to Microsoft Online Services shows that there are very few customers that still use TLS 1.0 and 1.1.

New App: Microsoft Whiteboard This month, Microsoft Whiteboard was released as a preview. This is a freeform digital canvas where people, ideas and content can collaborate creatively. It allows teams to ideate, iterate and collaborate both in person and remotely across different devices. To access this, you must turn it on in the Admin Centre.

Staff Hub updates: In development and scheduled for release in 2018 Team members will be able to use StaffHub to see and access all the news for the day directly in the app.  Tenant admins will have access to usage data for all StaffHub teams in their organisation. The report will include information about the size of the team, members and owners of the team, along with which devices/ features each team is using.  Organisations will be able to leverage StaffHub to distribute content to workers based on role, shift or need. This will make it easier for workers to access the right resources when and where they need it to do their best work.  Team members will be able to access important company news or announcements made in Yammer directly in StaffHub – allowing Firstline Workers to stay up to date and connected to the organisation.  blog-separator Business-anywhere-solutions-guide
