November Office 365 Updates
New sharing tab in OneDrive for Business Admin center 

In order to improve usability and ease of understanding, Microsoft are updating the sharing tab in OneDrive for business admin center. The tab has a new layout that highlights the most common sharing controls whilst also making it easier to understand how policy is configured in your organisation. This roll out will be completed by the end of December.

Updated activity reports on Yammer Microsoft are removing the activity reports (member engagement, messages posted, active groups, top public groups) from Yammer and are replacing this with various products such as a groups insight feature and office 365 content packs. Activity reports will be removed at the beginning of December.

Yammer Notes

Yammer notes are now turning into word documents  This feature is currently in the top navigation bar in Groups and it allows users to create notes in Yammer. This update is to further improve the integration with Office 365 suite. Existing notes will be converted into files, for now, however in future updates, integration with SharePoint online will be arrive. Key Points: Read only access to notes will be activated during migration between 9th – 11th December. After December 12th,Yammer notes will no longer be available and notes will be accessible as Word Online documents in Yammer files. PLEASE SAVE ANY UNPUBLISHED FILES.

Pending users can now receive email announcements  Before this update, Yammer announcements would only be delivered to users who were already logged in with an activated account. Now, Yammer will be able to send announcement emails to pending users for all networks, regardless of whether or not they have set foot in Yammer territory. If a user does not wish to receive updates, all they have to do is unsubscribe using the link in the email, or, sign in to their yammer account and leave the group.

Reassign your Sways to other users via PowerShell This is a new office feature that allows administrators to reassign Sways when an Azure Active directory user is deleted. Sways will enter ‘holding state’ until the Sway is eventually deleted. Admins can use a PowerShell cmdlet to reassign sways to another user within the organisation.

New app: Microsoft Bookings  Microsoft have now made an app that simplifies how you manage and schedule your appointments and meetings. Bookings saves time, decreases no shows and allows users to manage appointments, anywhere. This is a free app that is included in the business app add on, and will be accessible from the app launcher. Microsoft Bookings

Drag and drop emails into group mailboxes with Outlook on the Web You can now move emails into group inboxes by dragging and dropping. This feature is currently being built for Outlook on Windows 2016 and users will be notified when this feature becomes available. First release customers will see this rolling out in the first part of November, while standard release will be scheduled for late December.
