Office 365 Admin Update: October 2017
New Search Experience in Outlook for iOS app
Outlook for iOS is upgrading its search experience to make it simpler and easier for users to search and access files, emails and contacts. The search bar is now located at the bottom of the app giving you direct access to frequently accessed contacts, upcoming travel itineraries, package deliveries and recent attachments. You can search for these items for any account in one place and use filters to narrow down the results. This update will be completed within the next few weeks, and the improved search experience will roll out to Android users in a future update.
_______________________________________________________________________________Online Protection for Exchange Previously, Office 365 accepted messages from an invalid ‘from’ address (not compliant with RFC5322) although they were filtered, messages were marked as being spam, or not spam. Now, with this new update, all messages from an invalid ‘from’ address will be sent straight to the spam mail folder.
Manage and update files in SharePoint with ‘Attention Views’Attention views was announced at this years Microsoft Ignite conference and was created for libraries on SharePoint that require missing meta-data . This feature collects files that require metadata into actionable screens that enable the user to go through and manage and update files in bulk. This feature will be completely rolled out and activated by the end of November.
_______________________________________________________________________________Token Lifetime Duration in Azure Active Directory When an inactivity period reaches 90 days, a Refresh Token will be sent out. Before this update, the refresh token default time period was set to a lifetime, however, now this default has been limited to 90 days. This new update will be rolled out toward the end of October and will aim to reduce the number of authentication prompts.

_______________________________________________________________________________Microsoft To-Do Microsoft To-Do is a tool that can be used to keep track of daily tasks – much like that checklist in your notebook that’s on your desk. In approximately 30 days, Microsoft To-Do will be on-by-default for users in your organisation. Access to Microsoft To-Do for First Release users will – from that point on – be controlled through per-user licensing. You will no longer be able to control access, to the app, through the toggle in your Admin Centre.
_______________________________________________________________________________Sway There are plenty of new features within Sway which are shaping it to work more efficiently and to make it more user friendly. In terms of designing Sways, it is now possible to apply specific branding colours to the Sway presentation in order for it to adhere to business branding guidelines. Not only this, but it now also allows the user to create their own template based on one of their existing Sways – meaning Sway creation can be quicker. As well as this, Sways can now be printed and/or exported to word or pdf formats for offline viewing in the iOS app or Sway web, and can be accessed from the most recently viewed/ used section in office.com (Office 365 subscribers only). If you’re working nearby fellow co-authors, you can now find them and work on Sways collaboratively – but don’t worry – if you are a commercial user, you can lock down presence to those within the organisation only).
